CHARLES CUP 2023

The Charles Cup for 2023 was awarded by the Commodore to Beverly and Michael Briggs for their wonderful log of their summer cruise from Chichester to Paris in Kingfisher. It is must read for anyone contemplating a similar trip and can be found on the Charles Cup Entries Page. The entry from Ruth and Paul Bleasdale of their Ionian cruise was highly commended.

Entries for 2024 should be emailed to the Commodore in the first week of November 2024 please and in time for them to be read before the Laying up Dinner where the Charles Cup will be presented.

COMMODORE’S CUP 2023

The Commodore’s Cup was awarded to Charles Apthorp for his heroic campaign in the Flying Fifteen Worlds in Fremantle, doing exceptionally well in the early races and finishing 10th overall.

GORDON UNGLEY TROPHY 2023

The Bar triumphed against the Bench in a closely fought series of races where the result hinged on the final race to the Squadron Line. Although the first boat to finish to the sound of cannons was from the Bar, it was believed that the Bench who had taken the next three places had prevailed. Regrettably, all boats were disqualified once it was discovered that the first boat home, whom everyone else had followed, had finished on the wrong side of the line. The Bar was declared the winner.

OTHER TROPHIES

Neither the Willett Cup nor the Founder’s Plate (for runner up) were raced for in 2023 but the race will take place this year during the Solent meet.
